Name:Nicholas Rush
Birthdate:May 21
Dr. Nicholas Rush

Rush is first and foremost a brilliant scientist who seems only interested in furthering his research and his own goals. He's Machiavellian in the majority of his interactions with other people. There is a double purpose to almost everything he does even if the other purpose is not readily apparent. For example, he incited a rebellion against the military aboard Destiny, originally stating his reasons were due to the poor leadership by Colonel Young and poor treatment of the civilians on board, but in reality, Rush wanted to hide the fact he was implanted with an alien transmitter because he believed the military officers, Colonel Young specifically, would “toss him out the nearest airlock” if they found out. He's more than willing to deceive for what he calls “The Greater Good.”
He never does anything without a reason. Even if that reason is questionable.
Despite that, Rush is not an evil person. He doesn't want undue loss of life but he also recognizes it is sometimes necessary. After the death of his wife, he became callous though he told himself her death gave him courage. He made himself willing to make the 'hard decisions' which he was determined to do in the most efficient and in a way that would benefit that most number of people in the end, including himself. For example, if one person had to die for the rest of them to live, he would choose the person who was the least useful to the group. He's willing to do terrible things to benefit the majority or survival of himself.
He's also a man who does not take “no” for an answer. If he's refused, he'll simply find another way to get what he wants. Often in not exactly legal or moral ways.
He's also an decent judge of character and predicting the possible reactions different people will have to his actions and planning for each eventuality. At the same time, he is by no means a people person. Most people find him callous, condescending and hostile, with a superiority complex.
But he is not without his human side, before the death of his wife, he could easily be considered a kind and loving person. He still believes in humanity's potential to become something better than what they are but now believes that that is best achieved through knowledge.

This Nicholas Rush is sometimes played as a slight AU with a fail super power called the 'voice of command.' People are inclined to follow his commands but it can be resisted if you know about it.

"Oh no, we most definitely all would be dead had I not put certain limits in place. I also arranged for the alarms and warnings to go off regardless. A bit of theater, always nice."
